The other email address "me@some_other_email_provider" could be your Yahoo or Hotmail or Ozemail or any other email account you currently use. If you cancel, change or move from "me@some_other_email_provider.com" you still keep me@BurleighHeads.com, saving the hassle of notifying everyone of your new email provider. What a great idea.

The following diagram shows how you can manage your email in order to route mail from BurleighHeads.com ("myexample.com") to single, or multiple addresses.

You can set new addresses for your friends, family or business.
Simply add a prefix, like "mum" or "sales," which you want to give to a friend or use yourself, and the corresponding existing email address that you would like that mail delivered to.

Single and Multiple account forwarding.

Mail forwarding also allows you to use multiple aliases set to a single destination address in order to consolidate mail at one existing account. This is useful for a small business when you wish to produce the illusion of a big company using multiple email addresses such as "companyname_sales@BurleighHeads.com" and "companyname_info@BurleighHeads.com," but have them all come to one existing email account.

You can also enter a single common alias such as "JonesFamily@BurleighHeads.com" to forward to multiple destination addresses by setting it multiple times with separate forwarding addresses. For example: "JonesFamily@BurleighHeads.com" forwards to "robin@yahoo.com" and you can also set "JonesFamily@BurleighHeads.com" to forward to "mum@yahoo.com"
 

What will happen to mail sent to the alias I set up?

Let's say that your email address is jessie@BurleighHeads.com.

Anytime someone sends an email to jessie@BurleighHeads.com, our computers immediately re-direct it on to your existing email account at work, at home with your ISP or from any online email provider (e.g. jessie@yahoo.com)  or school account. You will be able to read it the same way you now read emails sent directly to jessie@yahoo.com.

The reason to set up an alias could be to group yourself in with a number of other people to receive the same mail when sent to a particular alias at BurleighHeads.com, or to have a permanent address at BurleighHeads.com. Email aliases are also a great way to make your small business larger and more compartmentalized. MyCompany_sales@BurleighHeads.com or Mycompanyname_info@BurleighHeads.com makes your small home office business look pretty imposing even though all the mail ends up in your single mail account!

Allocation Of Names

Important Note:
Me@BurleighHeads.com names will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. So if your name is already taken, then you will need to choose another one.
(Did you know that some people buy up internet names and later sell them for a tidy profit ?)

e.g. If your name was John and someone already has John@BurleighHeads.com you could request say, John2@BurleighHeads.com.
